R.B.L Gig 18th April

Last month Decajazz enjoyed another successful performance at the Royal British Legion Hornchurch Branch, and raised some more money for Charity.

It is estimated that Decajazz has raised over £25,000 for charity since Chris Ruck brought the musicians together in 2006.

Our next public performance will be opening the Belvedere Jazz Club Billericay in early September, more information soon to follow.

We also are performing at several private function across the summer, if you would like us to perform please contact Chris Ruck.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys, Girls and Jazz Lovers of all ages, we have news of more live performances!

Decajazz will be putting on an evening of jazz and entertainment at the Hornchurch Branch of the Royal British Legion on the 18th April. Many fans will remember that we have played here twice before, and have quite a following. More specific details are to follow.

Doors probably Open at 7 o’clock, and we hope to see you there!

Decajazz at the Belvedere 2th September 2008

Decajazz enjoyed another successful live performance at the Belvedere Jazz Club in Billericay and would like to thank all their fans for supporting them again.

Decajazz enjoyed an expanded line up of an extra trumpeter Michael “Trumpet Trousers” Dockerty and Angelo “The Vamping Greek Vampire from Tescos” Tsocos on trombone. This was also Decajazz’s first non-private function gig with the new saxophone section line up of Sam Weston on Baritone and Bethany Whalley on Alto 2.

We also enjoyed the singing sensation of Tamsin Graham singing some vocal hits, the barbershop group did some classic crowd favourites and drummer Jake Staines sang a beautiful rendition of the well known standard “Fly Me To The Moon”, accompanied by A.Linham (piano) and C.Ruck (drums).

A pleasurable evening was had by all.

Other upcoming Decajazz gigs include a private function on 20th September.

There is also talk of a charity fundraiser at christmas and we will keep you all posted.

Decajazz, still going strong!

Although the band members are dispersed to various higher education establishments, during the "holidays" we are still available for gigs, and these can be organised with our band leader and extraordinare Mr Ruck himself.

Decajazz continues to play together every opportunity they can and are performing at some private functions over this Summer 2008.

The album "Decajazz – The Last Stand" is available now also, this was recorded live at The Belvedere Jazz Club on Tuesday 4th September ’07, to a packed venue of many of our greatest and most treasured fans. This was ‘officially’ our final gig, however being the jazz musicians we are, we laugh in the face of officiality and continue to play, meeting as often as we can to play. If you would like a copy of "Decajazz – The Last Stand", most band members have a copy of this recording, so contact a (organised) band member and they will copy one for you*.

Decajazz’ Spanish Tour, and Other News

Recently, Decajazz have been very busy, so here is a brief overview of the activites they have been successfully undertaking.

They performed in the interval and second half of the Coopers’ Company and Coborn School Summer Concert on Wednesday 4th July and St.Luke’s Church in Cranham, where they recieved a standing ovation and riotous applause.

They have been doing several private functions for Garden Parties over the last couple of months, which have been well recieved and appreciated.

They then travelled to Spain from 14th-19th July and played in several venues in and around Barcelona, and the spanish villagers greatly enjoyed their show.

They have been very busy and very successful.

The Next Chance to see Decajazz play live! is at the Belvedere Jazz Club in Billericay on Tuesday 4th September. The evening starts at around 8 o’clock, but to get good seats you should arrive some time before that. Tickets are roughly £8. They are available on the door at a first come first served basis, but i’m sure we will be able to fit everyone in!

The Success Of Decajazz Gig June 23rd 2007

Decajazz once again played to a packed venue this past saturday night at The Drive Methodist Church. Once again recorded live, this time on reel to reel tapes, the album will be called "Driving with Decajazz". If we can work out a way to transfer reel to reel tapes to C.D format, this recording might be obtainable, otherwise, it will sit in Ginge’s (th pianist who recorded it) loft for the next 40 years!

The evening was highly enjoyable, the recording very good and the food exquisite. The band was very pleased they got to have something to eat as well as the audience. As the saying goes, a "well fed band is a happy band" – Earl Hines.

The pieces Decajazz played at this performance venue were very different to the normal running order because the pianist, Ginge, was responsible for the running order. This led to a very interesting choice of repetoire which was greatly recieved by the audience.

It was a very successful evening.

Other News;

We are still waiting for copies of recordings from when we revisited Newham and from the Kids Alive Charity Night. Chris is chasing up the first and Andrew is chasing up the second. Ask them for more details.
Andrew informs Decajazz and their fans that the album "Decajazz; Stompin’ at the R.B.L" is running behind schedule because the sound engineer who recorded the album went to Glastonbury. When he arrives home again, work on removing the background noise on the recording will continue.
The Next Decajazz Gig is July the 1st. Chris will be soon to supply the details.
Decajazz is playing at the Coopers’ Company and Coborn School Summer Concerts, which will be on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the week beginning 2nd July.
Decajazz will also be briefly touring around Barcelona alongside the Cooper’s Company and Coborn School Symphonic Wind Band on the 14th-19th July.
We also like to confirm once again that we will be having our final performance at the Belvedere Jazz Club in Billericay on Tuesday 4th September.
